YAY!

Luke has slept through the night the last two nights!! It's been so nice to get that extra sleep but when I first did not hear him crying around 2:00/3:00 I worried something was wrong. He must know I have to go back to work tomorrow :( I can't believe it's time for me to go back. It has been so nice spending time with Luke and being the first one to see his new accomplishments. Going back to work is going to be so much tougher than I ever imagined..... I'll probably be sneaking away and especially bugging my mom at lunch time!

NEW CRIB

Well we finally have gotten a new crib and put together after the recall on Luke's last crib. It isn't the same color wood so it doesn't match his dresser but it is a nice looking crib. The mobile doesn't fit right on there which drives me crazy but what can ya do.... Hopefully this one will last and not get recalled!

Luke's first beach trip!!

This past weekend was Luke's first trip to the beach. I think he really liked it and he did really well with the car ride there and back. He mostly slept on the beach. I think the sound of the ocean instantly soothed him. We just lounged all weekend. Matt and Karleigh came on Sunday to hang out. Tammy had to work and we missed her! I can't wait to do it again. It felt like the last trip before summer vacation is up for me. I have to go back to work next week after being out for 2 months. It's going to be tough!!
First thing on the beach

2 Months Old

I can't believe our little guy is 2 months old today!! Time is flying by! He's smiling, laughing, and doing baby talk all the time now. It's hard getting up early in the mornings with him but when he gives you his cute smile it just makes you smile too. I can't believe I have to go back to work soon. It's going to be tough after spending all my time with Luke.
We took a visit to the Senior Center this week while a lot of the usual group was there and they all thought he is precious. He slept through the whole visit.
We finally got things straight with the crib recall and we got another one. We lucked up that they had the crib we wanted in stock and we were able to take it home the same day. I'll post a picture once we get it together. It's not going to match his dresser though. A nice one that would have matched was almost $200 on top of the price of our voucher which made the crib $400 total. That wasn't going to happen so the one we got is sort of a cherry or walnut color. Hopefully this one won't get recalled......

Snakes are the devil....

Here is the nasty snake that me and Luke first almost stepped on in the yard and then it was on our back deck ruining our little outing. I saw it out of the corner of my eye thinking it was the hose but after doing a double take I realized it was a snake. Luke, Daisy and myself high-tailed it back in the house. Then the sneaky devil climbed onto the back porch where Luke and I were going to sit and be able to keep an eye on where the snake went. Little did we know he was at our feet again. Jeff got home and took his head off with a shovel. I know black snakes are supposed to be good for some things but I sure enough did not want that thing that close to my house.
Here is Luke after the snake experience right before bath time. He looks like he is thinking hard.

Mother's Day

Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt..
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body...
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom.

My Mother's Day gift from Luke to take when I go back to work so I can look at him all day long. And I will!!!!

Crib recall

Luke's beautiful crib will be no more soon. His is one of the recalled cribs. They tell you to stop using it immediately but it will take them two weeks to send me a voucher to get a new one. Now how does that make any sense. They're causing me a huge inconvience, why can't they step up and overnight be a dang voucher. Another thing that stinks is that I can only use the voucher at Babies R Us so that narrows my choices. So Luke will be spending time in his play pen again....

Relay for Life

Friday night was Hillsborough's annual Relay for Life. It was out at the Orange County Speedway for the 2nd time. We went out with Luke and we made it for the luminary lighting. They cut the lights out for the luminaries around 9:00 so Luke was doing good right up until then. He cried during the entire luminary service. I was on the committee again this year but I didn't do very much with Luke just getting here this year. I hope to do more next year.
Orange Family Medical team. They toughed out the whole night!!!
The balloons from the Survivor Lap.
My mom walking the Survivor Lap.

Luke's first time at the race track. He likes to go fast!!!!
If he was awake he would see his Grandma walking the Survivor Lap.
